Wreck, shallow part

Duchess of York 1893

Built in 1893, the Duchess of York was used for transportation. It sank approximately 70 year ago when it hit a reef causing the steam boiler to explode. The ship broke into several pieces allowing us to dive to the shallow part of the wreck at 15-25 mtrs. The top of the reef with its scattered bits of metal are home to octopus, moray and more. In early summer the place is home to barracuda and a preferred relaxation place for turtles. The plant life is also excellent, but take a look for yourself in our photo gallery.
