WELCOME TO KALKAN
Kalkan is a small picturesque village along the Lykian coast between Antalya and Fethye, which has only a few thousand inhabitants. Once inhabited by the Greeks and now carefully restored the village centre, with its old narrow roads and small shops and restaurants, are just waiting for you to explore. But don’t worry, there are no agressive sellers here to plague you.
We especially like, that Kalkan has not yet been discovered by mass tourism. Holidays here are more for guests with a cultivated taste, who want to be surrounded by the locals relaxed art of living and who love the beauty of the village and its surroundings – which doesn’t mean however, that there is no night life in Kalkan.
In daytime there are many antique ruins in the surrounding areas which take you into the world of the old Lykia: Xanthos, Letoon and Patara are just a few kilometres away. You also have sporting opportunites such as canoeing, trekking or horse riding which we can directly arrange with our partner travel agency.
We are also able to organise your accommodation or in the event you already have that arranged and just need a private transfer from the airport, we can arrange that too. However – if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to write us an email – we will take care of it for you!
Depending on the season there are charter flights or cheap Packages offering Turkey as a destination by various specialists.
Hotel Pirat offer great value for money, and from their wonderful breakfast and pool terrace you can see and watch the dive boat as it is just a few steps away. The nearest airport is Dalaman, which operates charter flights between May and October. The transfer from Dalaman to Kalkan takes you through the new tunnel, so even with a comfort break is now only 2 hours drive. Antalya airport is open all year round for charter flights, but the transfer from here is a good 5 hours. All our transfers are in air-conditioned vehicles and to/from Dalaman Airport the cost is 75 euros for up to 3 people, and 80 euros for up to 8 people. From/to Antalya, it is 100 euros for 3 people and 150 euros for 8 people.
Airline / Baggage allowance:
Please check with your individual airline for baggage allowances, particularly if you are bringing your own diving equipment, as each airline is different.
Visas
All UK residents will need to by a £10 visitors visa which lasts for up to 3 months
Kalkan is on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey therefore it has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters. The diving season in Kalkan is from May to late October.
July, August and the first half of September has the highest water temperatures (up to max. 28 degrees Celsius). There is occasional wind and rain in the early season (April and early May) and is to be expected.

In summer, late July to September, you can dive with a just a summer suit. Gloves are not required.
The rest of the time, depending on you personally and much you feel the cold, you need a diving suit from 4.5mm to 7mm, wet or semidry. Some guests also dive with a dry diving suit.
MONEY / CASH
The national currency is the Turkish Lira (Türk Lirası, ISO code TRY)
However at C & C we will accept Euro / €, U.S. Dollar / $, Turkish lira / TL, Sterling / GBP or you can pay by credit card (MasterCard / Visa).
COUNTRY LANGUAGE
The official language is Turkish. Most locals understand English, German is spoken very little, with the exception of the dive boat.

GMT plus two hours from the UK.
ELECTRICITY
The mains voltage is 230V at 50Hz. For UK appliances a plug adapter is required. Please be aware that there are electricity surges and also you may experience power cuts.
INTERNET
There are several free and paid wireless connections available. The links are good with slow DSL or ISDN connections comparable.
